Lovely breakfast and fresh coffee provided by our kind and generous trail angels. Then they drove us and our packs out of the campground so we didn't have to walk the 2/3 mile uphill (which is NOT part of the TRT mileage total 😉), so that was extra nice.
It was really cold last night/early this morning but after about 30mins of hiking uphill the fingers and toes began to defrost.
Today's hike has been really lovely - nice cool-ish weather, sun fully shining, mostly flat with some uphill which is actually nicer on my knees and toes! (it's easy to get toe blisters with lots of downhill.)
Today is just a great day in general. We arrived at our little alpine lake campsite (elevation 8600) at around 1:30 and had plenty of time to do stuff, like laundry, swim, sit next to the lake on a beautiful huge boulder and chat with one another. My group is full of really great people. We are all getting along very well. Our (four) guides are great too - they are friendly and helpful and seem to make sure each of us are doing okay.
From our camp we have a view of South Lake Tahoe but we are quite south of it right now, looking north across several little peaks and valleys. It's indescribably beautiful here and wonderful to be so immersed in nature.
