Easy hike this morning from Richardson Lake to Barker Pass. We are almost to the halfway point of the entire trail. We met our Trail Angels there and they had a most delicious and special meal for us. They made sushi rolls for us - imitation crab, avocado and cucumber. Also they had chicken meatballs and a cabbage salad. Plus homemade chocolate chip-oatmeal cookies! Wow!!
The lady with the meniscus tears in her knee decided that she can't go further after today's hike, at the midpoint with the Trail Angels, and was really struggling through the 6 mile hike this morning. The guides divided up the bulk of items from her pack so it wouldn't be so heavy for her and therefore too much strain on her knees, which was very nice. Another incident today-one of the hikers, Mike, had to leave the trail for a bit because his left hand, ring finger got super swollen after lunch for some reason (he had fallen on his left hand the day yesterday and it was fine at the time). They took him to a local firehouse and they were able to cut the ring off his finder. He was them shuttled back to the trailhead and caught up to us about 1 1/2 hours after we got to camp. We were all so happy to see him and to see that he was okay. Mike came here from Wisconsin just to hike the Tahoe rim Trail. It would have been a bummer if he wouldn't have been able to join us again.
